Keep the glass blower

Dear Editor:

I am extremely disappointed and saddened that the developer, Mr. Wu, has not incorporated the glass blowing studio of Mr. Williams into his rejuvenation of this special corner in Claremont.   I have been extremely pleased this part of Claremont is being refurbished, but disheartened now that this unique feature's loss destroys what might give the whole area a special attention-drawing character.

The opportunity to actually witness this glass blown art being created would be an asset to drawing people to the area I believe.  Certainly, I have continued to be drawn to the Cactus Glass Works bringing guests from other parts of California, also from as far away as the east coast, anxious to observe and purchase original creations.   We would have appreciated being able to visit other attractions, too, in that complex.

Perhaps more such attractions are what Mr. Wu should be thinking about adding instead of shutting them out.  Why not at least grant a period of a year or so to determine the glass blowing studio's potential as an asset by promoting this unique art by retaining the artist and his furnace?

Thank you, Mr. Krickl, for your article bringing this information to public attention.  Please do follow-up on this issue, especially if there are others who share my desire to see this glass blowing studio with furnace continue at the present location.  Is there any way to convince Mr. Wu to reconsider his ill-advised decision?
