From the Claremont PD

In reference to Mr. Beckett’s comments [Claremont COURIER, Wednesday, September 16, I agree the Wine Walk was a tremendous success. I had the opportunity to personally speak with dozens of people who were enjoying themselves and I was able to help with many of the small issues that arose.

As the police officer who worked the event on bicycle that night, I was able to travel throughout the Village, on both sides of Indian Hill. I am sorry I wasn't able to meet Mr. Beckett personally and discuss the concerns he had, but with an event that size, personal contact with everyone isn't possible.

In the past, we have used several bike officers to offer added patrols and protection to events such as the Wine Walk, but unfortunately our current budget crisis did not allow for this. I hope Mr. Beckett will feel free to call the police department in the future with any police related concerns he has.
