LWV health care panel a success

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the League of Women Voters of the Claremont Area, I would like to thank the COURIER for the balanced coverage provided the League's September 12th program: "National Healthcare Reform: Perspectives from within the Healthcare System."

As the title suggests and described by the League's flyer, the program focused on: the viewpoints and unique challenges of panelists who work daily within different parts of the current system, a panel presentation among professionals in the field not a debate, and an opportunity to broaden the context from which attendees view healthcare reform discussions.

Over 100 individuals attended this presentation with the opportunity to comment after the panel presentation. The League regrets that three of the attendees elected to neither participate in that part of the process nor apparently read the program description before attending. The League delivered on its commitment in the program description as did the panel members to the audience in a well-attended, open, civil and non-partisan process.
