Former Claremont resident Robert Christopher Fossum died unexpectedly at his home in San Clemente on March 8, 2009.  He was 24.

Born on February 9, 1985 in Pomona, Rob grew up in Claremont and Upland. He attended Sycamore Elementary School and El Roble Intermediate School and graduated from San Antonio High School in 2003. For the last several years, he lived in San Clemente where he worked in a local restaurant and microbrewery and trained for a career in mixed martial arts.

Rob’s family shared that he will be remembered for his compassionate heart, indomitable spirit, sense of humor, dedication to his job and training and devotion to his family and friends.

Rob is survived by his father, Rob Fossum of Upland; his mother, Elaina Uzeta Fossum of Covina; his brother, Eric Fossum of Claremont; his stepmother, Lisa Rodriguez of Claremont; his grandmother, Virginia Fossum of Claremont; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Oak Park Cemetery in Claremont.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
