Claremont swimming competes in league final The Baseline League finals for boys and girls swimming and diving took place on Thursday and Friday with CIF implications on the line for all teams involved. Earlier in the season, CHS boys team members Sam Jardine, Erick Hauck, DJ Tarazona along with girls team members Noelle Tarazona, Carolyn Jackson, Tara Blecher and Annie Eagleton all qualified for CIF. Results of the Baseline League finals will be included in the next edition of Sporting Life.
Track & field qualifiers approach Baseline League Finals The Baseline League Track & Field Preliminaries were held on Tuesday afternoon with a host of Claremont High School athletes qualifying for the finals held yesterday. Coming off victories against Etiwanda and Los Osos last week, the Wolfpack boys squad was ready for action on Tuesday and had a host of qualifiers for the finals led by senior Thomas Darole, who qualified for the 110-meter high hurdles, the 300-meter high hurdles and the boys 4x100-meter relay team. Other CHS boys multi-event qualifiers were Sean Ferrera (300-meter high hurdles/triple jump/400-meters/4x400-meter relay), Julian Bustos (400-meters/boys 4x400-meter relay), John Gruidl (pole vault/110-meter high hurdles), Kyle Manis (800-meters/4x400-meter relay), Jordan Scott (400-meters/4x400-meter relay) and Paul Ross (1600-meters/3200-meters). Dora Baldwin, Kori Carter, Maya Avant, Leilani DeLaVega and Laura Chase all recorded first place wins for the CHS girls in the preliminaries on Tuesday. Baldwin won the 400-meters in 58.71, Carter placed first in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.31, Avant leapt 35-1.25 to take the triple jump, Chase’s 4-6 leap landed her first in the high jump and DeLaVega’s 116-01 toss was best in the discus throw. The 5 first place winners will be joined by a host of other girls from Claremont, who also qualified for the Baseline League Finals on Tuesday afternoon. Results of the Baseline League Finals will be included in the next edition of Sporting Life.
