CHS theater department takes on a Shakespeare classic

The Claremont High School Theater Department performs A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, December 12, repeating Friday December 13 and Saturday, December 14.

The comedy, by William Shakespeare, was written 1595-96. It portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta, the former queen of the Amazons. It  displays Shakespeare’s masterful wit as he plays to the imagination of the audience.

It includes characters such as the lovers, a group of royals whose love triangles and drama are unmatched, and the mechanicals, a group of talentless “actors” come to life, all set in 1930s New Orleans.
