Transient arrested for making threats with firearm
On Saturday, March 20, at approximately 8:52 a.m., Claremont Police Officers responded to the Stater Bros Market, located at 1055 W. Foothill Blvd., regarding a report of an armed robbery. The suspect had attempted to leave Stater Bros without paying for items, but when confronted the suspect pointed a black semi-automatic firearm at the employee threatening to shoot him. A description of the suspect, as well as photographs taken from surveillance video footage, was provided to responding officers. Through investigative means, the suspect was later identified.
On March 27, 2021, at approximately 5:25 p.m., the suspect was located in the area of Garey Ave., and Grove St., in the City of Pomona. The suspect was detained and during a search of his property, a replica handgun was located. The suspect was arrested without incident for robbery and a “No Bail” warrant, and later transported to the Claremont Police Department jail where he was booked.
The suspect was identified as Isaiah Matthew Porter, a 21-year-old, transient. Porter is being held at the Claremont Police Department Jail and is scheduled to appear at the Pomona Superior Court on Tuesday, March 30.
