In cooperation with the Police Commission, the Police Department recently developed an electronic complaint form option assessed through the Police Department’s website to ensure accessibility for the community to provide their feedback.
A CPD dispatcher who had been monitoring the surveillance cameras on the top floor of the city-owned parking structure at 470 W. First St. at 2:13 a.m. noticed people from several cars parked there all emerge and get into a white Buick four door. The dispatcher notified officers on patrol, who soon arrived and began questioning the five people in the Buick.
The Claremont Police Department has recently noticed a rise in the theft of catalytic converters from vehicle exhaust systems. In particular, thieves are targeting Toyotas. CPD offers tips to prevent these types of crimes and is reminding drivers to stay vigilant, because it only takes a few minutes for the theft to occur.
Police were summoned to the laundromat in the Stater Bros. shopping center at 1055 W. Foothill Blvd. at 3:14 p.m. regarding an apparent brawl. Upon arrival they found the altercation was in fact a robbery in progress. The suspect, Michael Reading, 33, from Pomona, was allegedly “punching somebody repeatedly in the head,” according to Claremont police.

In yet another in the long line of Blotter blurbs featuring the violation of the number one rule of criminality, on Sunday, December 13 Claremont PD arrested Delcenore Dunford at the Chevron/McDonald’s at 8:20 a.m. after he returned to the scene of his alleged crime. After being asked to leave the store at 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd. earlier that morning due to loitering.
