On September 25 Claremont police have been stepping up patrols in the South Indian Hill Boulevard and 10 freeway area over the past several weeks in an effort to get a handle on increasing criminal behavior. The focus has primarily been on the area around the three nearby motels: the Claremont Lodge, Knight’s Inn and Motel 6.
Claremont Police arrested 49 people during four recent directed enforcement details in the 800 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard, according to a news release from the CPD.
After responding to two shootings at the Motel 6, located at 840 S. Indian Hill, and noticing perceived increase in gang activity as well as human trafficking, officers decided to step up enforcement in the area.
On Thursday, September 10 CPD had another satisfied customer and another alleged felon in custody after getting a 12:30 p.m. call from a 36-year-old man who said his blue 2012 Toyota Prius had been stolen from his Claremont workplace. Police relayed the hot car’s information to the squad, and 15 minutes later an officer saw it moving in the 300 block of east Foothill Boulevard in Pomona.
