The COURIER's annual Fourth of July special section is bigger and better than ever. Rachael Ranney didn't listen to
her friends and family who
urged her not to adopt a child as
a single woman. Instead she followed
her heart and couldn't be happier.
"She's the best thing that's ever happened to me,"
the Claremont native said.
That "she" is Amira. Now nearly 3 years old,
Amira came into Ms. Ranney's life as an infant
through a small adoption agency in Ethiopia. The
stars aligned and a new family was created.
