Claremont is now 2-2 in league after winning a good game, 38-29, against Colony on Friday at CHS. The Pack scored first and was ahead 14-7 at halftime. Both teams added a few more points in the third and then had big fourth quarter numbers with Colony adding 16 and Claremont 21.
Kelly Xu won the Palomares League Championship by 20 shots on Wednesday, claiming her second straight MVP title.
Xu shot a four under par 69 on Tuesday at Diamond Bar golf course and a three over par 75 on Wednesday at Western Hills Country Club, for a two-day total of 144, one under par.
Sophomore Madison Stout took sixth place and a spot on the first team, all league while sophomore Davorah Strober earned an all league honorable mention.

There wasn't a lot to cheer about on the football field as Claremont was out played from the very start. The Tartans built a 14 point lead at the end of the first quarter, that extended to 35-0 by the halftime whistle. Glendora got another touchdown in the third, but Claremont was able to break the shut out in the fourth, with a passing play from junior Ricky Murillo to Isaiah Love.
Girls varsity tennis beat Alta Loma 14-4 to move to 7-0 in the Palomares League on Tuesday. The performance of the day came from sophomore Jacque Pearsall when she beat Alta Loma’s number one singles player, Lindsey Brown 6-0. Pearsall had lost to Brown two times last year and in their previous meeting this year.
Last Thursday in Chino Hills, great performances throughout the singles and doubles line up led to a 15-3 win over league rival Ayala High School.

The undefeated Tartans looked like they were headed to another easy victory after winning the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-20. Claremont performed well enough to stay within striking distance, but Glendora played with an air of inevitability, keeping their opponent just a step behind.

The undefeated Tartans looked like they were headed to another easy victory when they won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-20, but a tenacious Claremont Wolfpack came fighting back, winning the next two sets, 25-23 and 25-21. Claremont High School’s Palomares League record is now even at 1-1 after the Pack won a very competitive game, 25-17, at Alta Loma on Friday. The Braves had almost twice the number of total yards, 438 to the Pack’s 231, but Claremont made those yards count in part because of five key turnovers.
Last Wednesday Claremont High School graduate Brittany Brown won a silver medal at the IAAF World Championships, bringing Team USA its first podium in the women's 200-meter since 2011 according to a news release from the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
In the recent past, Claremont boys water polo has outplayed the competition so broadly, one could just tell they would win from the moment they entered the pool.

Claremont High School advanced its record to 4-1 with a 43-29 away victory over Montclair on Friday. Montclair owned the first quarter scoring nine points to Claremont’s zero, however in the second quarter the Pack came alive with 29 points to the Cavilers six. Both teams managed to get two more touchdowns in the second half of the game which ensured the Claremont victory.
