After several months mapping out
Claremont Unified School District’s
vision, core values, and
goals, a decision has been made. The final
draft of the district’s strategic plan was
unanimously approved at Thursday night’s
board meeting.
The strategic plan will “provide the essential framework
needed to create a road map for the next 3 years,”
according to CUSD Interim District Superintendent Dr.
Gloria Johnston.
Sylvia Nasar began her
career with a degree in
literature and little
knowledge of economics.
Today, the New York-based
author has made millions combining
the 2 disciplines.
Ms. Nasar has been honored as a recipient
of the National Book Critics Circle
Award and a Pulitzer Prize finalist, both
for her biography A Beautiful Mind,
which also garnered Oscar gold with a
movie rendition by director Ron Howard.
With a reserve that totals
more than its
current operating
budget, the Baldy View Regional
Occupational Program
(ROP) has been questioned by
Claremont Unified School
District Interim Superintendent
Gloria Johnston.
Ms. Johnston believes Baldy View
ROP could provide more funding to
CUSD and the other districts the organization
serves. Baldy View ROP’s budget is $7
to $8 million with the reserves going into
this fiscal year totaling approximately $9
million.
