Boys basketball

Claremont capped its dismal season with a 47-26 home loss against Alta Loma on February 2.

The team finished 3-25 overall, 0-10 in league, and sixth in Palomares League play.

Girls basketball

The Pack hosted Alta Loma on February 2 and demolished the Braves, 65-8. Glendora and Bonita also picked up wins on the last day of league resulting in a three-way tie for first, each with a 8-2 league record. The girls finished the regular season 24-4 overall, earning their first ever Palomares League title.

The fourth seeded Wolfpack hosted Aliso Niguel to begin the 2023 CIF-Southern Section Division II-A playoffs after press time Thursday. Updated brackets are at cifss.org.

Boys soccer

In Eddie Flores’s first season in charge of the varsity team, he secured a Palomares League title with a 3-1 win at Alta Loma on February 2. The boys’ overall record is 14-1-6. They finished 7-0-3 in league.

Claremont’s postseason began after press time Thursday when the team hosted Cabrillo Long Beach to kick off the 2023 CIF-Southern Section Division III playoffs. Brackets are posted at cifss.org.

Girls soccer

The girls secured the Palomares League title for the fifth season running, despite losing 1-0 at home versus Alta Loma on February 2.

On Wednesday, Claremont welcomed Saugus and won, 2-1, to begin CIF-Southern Section Division II postseason play. Following Wednesday’s result, CHS is 18-4-2, 7-2-1 in league. Claremont is at Long Beach Poly in the second round on Friday. Kickoff time is TBD. Brackets are live at cifss.org.

Girls water polo

Claremont lost, 14-7, Tuesday in the first round of the CIF-SS Division III championships at La Serna, capping its season at 15-14, 3-5 in league. Follow the girls water polo brackets at cifss.org.

Boys and girls wrestling

Results from the Palomares League Finals on February 3: for the boys, freshman Ryan Libunao placed first in the 132-weight class; junior Nate Gomez, third, 113; senior Simon Bachman, first, 182; and senior Ty Lobbe, fourth, 195. On the girls team, all 11 wrestlers placed, including freshman Victoria Resendiz, third in the 131; freshman Sofia DeMello, second, 143; freshman Lauren Malvitz, second, 189; junior Brianna Valdez, first, 116; junior Meleia Palmer, second, 121; junior Olivia Delgado, first, 126; senior Thuong Tang, second, 101; senior Faith Powell, second, 143; senior Olivia Blanco, third, 150; senior Zoey Ramos, first, 160; and senior Frida Palafox, third in the 170 division.

The Wolfpack’s wrestlers will represent the Palomares League at the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Individual wrestling competition on Friday and Saturday. The boys will compete at Yucaipa, while the girls head to Corona. First matches are set for 11 a.m. Friday.

Boys basketball

Webb capped its season February 3 at AGBU Canoga Park with a 66-47 loss. The team ended the 2022-23 season 6-15, 2-6 in league, and placed fourth in the Academy League.

Girls basketball

The team hosted Immaculate Heart on February 2 and lost, 46-25, to end its season. The result took the Gauls’ record to 6-15, 2-6 in league. The girls also placed fourth in the Academy League.

Boys soccer

Webb hosted St. Monica Academy on Tuesday, cruising to a 9-1 victory in a CIF-SS Division VII wildcard game. The result brings the San Joaquin League’s runners-up to 10-6-2, 7-2-1 in league.

The Gauls opened up the first round of play after press time Thursday with a trip to St. Paul. Updated brackets are posted at cifss.org.

Girls soccer

The San Joaquin League champions opened CIF-Southern Section Division III postseason play Wednesday with a double overtime, 2-1 home win over Brea Olinda, leaving Webb 15-1-2, 7-0-1 in league.

Girls water polo

The Gauls wrapped up the season February 2 with a 15-6 loss at Charter Oak. Webb’s finished 6-15, 0-8 in league, fourth in Valle Vista League standings.

Boys wrestling

Webb will send eight athletes to the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Individual wrestling competition Friday and Saturday, including freshman Ben Madanski in the 120-weight class; sophomore Armen Xue, 106; sophomore Eric Luo, 152; sophomore Hanbo Xu, 160; junior Pui Fong, 170; senior Conrad Poon, 126; senior Alfonso Alvarez-Seara, heavyweight; and senior Leo Levitin-Shilman, the Montview League’s 220-weight class champion, also in heavyweight. The first match is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Yucaipa.
